Dear Sirs:

I am writing you on behalf of the 54,000 members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers to demand that your Government immediately and unconditionally free Ms. Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani.

We are calling on you to finally put an end to capital punishment by stoning and to reverse the unjust judgment in the case of Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani.

This is an unacceptable denial of Ms. Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani’s human rights. It reflects a degrading view of women.

We are urging you to support justice and dignity by freeing Ms. Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani.

Yours truly,

Denis Lemelin
National President

  2. Dear Mr Lemelin; it is very sweet of the the Canadian postal workers to take such a zealous interest in one case out of MANY such inhumane atrocities taking place on a daily basis in the 4 corners of the world.

Of course, Canada has to be congratulated for having abolished death penalty in the 70s; but I think the respectable postal workers should continue their campaign for abolishing death penalty at the cousin/neighbor country: the US of A!

I also wish to be ascertained that the lovely postal workers of Canada have not fallen victim to the Anti-Iran rhetoric promoted by the war mongers of the world, one of which is running the country in a very “prorogue”ative manner. these human right campaigns are ALWAYS a pretext to win popular sympathy for starting wars!

Last time around, you had a crazy brave little prime minister who stood up to bush, and teh courageous people of Quebec turned out to frozen Montreal streets to say NO to war with Iraq. I hope the country is maintaining the same mood; this time around.

    Kind regards
