Teachers’ News from Iran, Early May 2011

This post shares news on the situation facing teachers and teachers’ unions in Iran. These are news items from early May 2011, and they show the kind of pressure that teachers in Iran are under by the Islamic Republic. Unionized teachers in Kurdistan are pressured for calling for the remembrance of beloved teacher Farzad Kamangar, who was executed along with 4 other political prisoners on 9 May 2010, while contract teachers take to the streets to demand the full pay and benefits associated with being employed by the Ministry of Education as civil service teachers.

Teachers’ Union of Kurdistan Threatened; Twelve Teachers Summoned

HRANA News Agency – Agents working for Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence are placing undue pressure on teachers summoned by the agency to repudiate the statement released by Teachers’ Union of Kurdistan for May 9th. In this statement, the union has named the day Farzad Kamangar was executed a day to reject violence and defend the right to live.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), in recent days, Bahaldyn Maleki, Ramin Zandnia, Ali Qarishi, Mokhtar Asadi, Peyman Navidian, Heydar Zaman, Reza Khatami, Kamal Fakorian, Mostafa Sarbazan, Mohammad Sadiq Sadeqi, Hiva Ahmadi and Ezatollah Nosrati were summoned to the Intelligence Agency in Kurdistan Province. The aforementioned individuals were questioned and threatened by the interrogators who had traveled from Tehran to Sanandaj [Kurdistan Province, Iran], and demands were made to rescind the union’s statement.

However, union members have so far insisted on their call to observe May 9th, the anniversary of Farzad Kamangar and four other individuals’ execution. According to this report, intelligence forces have focused on pressuring Peyman Navidian and Mokhtar Asadi the most because they are union activists with prior convictions. Peyman Navidian was exiled for nearly three years to Zanjan Province and was not allowed to work for several months. Similarly, Mokhtar Asadi was in exile for 2 years and banned from work for 6 months.

In their statement, Teachers’ Union of Kurdistan has asked teachers all over Iran to light a candle on May 9th and reject organized violence. By defending the right to live and teaching lessons of peace and human benevolence to their students, educators throughout Iran have been asked to commemorate Farzad Kamangar and his legacy as a fallen teacher.

خبرگزاری هرانا – نیروهای امنیتی وابسته به وزارت اطلاعات جهت مجبور نمودن اعضای کانون صنفی معلمان به تکذیب بیانیه کانون در آن روز ۱۹ اردی بهشت ماه (سالروز اعدام فرزاد کمانگر معلم کرد) که به عنوان “روز نفی خشونت سازمان یافته و دفاع از حق حیات” نامگذاری شده است؛ بر معلمان اخضار شده اعمال فشار می نمایند.

بنا به اطلاع گزارشگران هرانا، ارگان خبری مجموعه فعالان حقوق بشر در ایران، طی چند روز اخیر آقایان بهاألدین ملکی، رامین زندنیا، علی قریشی، مختار اسدی، پیمان نودینیان، حیدر زمان، رضا حاتمی، کمال فکوریان، مصطفی سربازان، محمد صدیق صادقی، هیوا احمدی و عزت الله نصرتی از سوی ادارهٔ اطلاعات استان کردستان و بازجوهای این اداره که از تهران به سنندج آمده بودند احضار و مورد بازجویی و تهدید قرار گرفتند.
نیروهای امنیتی از آنان خواستند به لغو بیانیهٔ صادر شده توسط این انجمن صنفی اقدام نمایند.

البته اعضای انجمن تاکنون بر اجرای مراسم ۱۹ اردیبهشت ماه، سالروز شهادت فرزاد کمانگر و ۴ تن دیگر پافشاری کرده‌اند.

بنا بر این گزارش، نیروهای امنیتی بیشترین تهدیدات را متوجه آقایان پیمان نودینیان و مختاراسدی نموده‌اند چرا که آن‌ها بعنوان فعالان صنفی به ترتیب نزدیک به ۳ سال در تبعید در استان زنجان و چندین ماه انفصال از خدمت و ۲ سال تبعید و ۶ ماه انفصال از خدمت را گذرانده‌اند.

در بیانیهٔ مورد اشاره، کانون صنفی معلمان کردستان از عموم معلمان ایران خواسته است در این روز با روشن کردن شمع و نفی خشونت سازمان یافته و دفاع از حق حیات در کنار آموزش صلح و انسان دوستی به دانش آموزان یاد و خاطره فرزاد کمانگر، معلم شهید را گرامی بدارند.

Contract Teachers Rally at Parliament House

HRANA News Agency – A group of contract teachers gathered this morning in front of the parliament building in Tehran to appeal to their representatives for permanent employment in the Ministry of Education.

According to a report by Jame Jam Online, demonstrators who were mostly female teachers with temporary contracts protested in front of the north entrance of the Iranian parliament to ask their representatives to take the necessary measures towards resolving teachers’ problems. Additionally, some of the contract teachers gathered in a sit-in protest at a street corner close to the east entrance of the building and objected to the policies preventing them from being employed by the Ministry of Education as civil service teachers.

Seyyed Kazem Mousavi, the House Representative from Ardabil Province [Azerbaijan, Iran] and a member of the House Committee on Education and Research, appeared amongst the protestors and spoke with them.

تجمع معلمان حق‌التدريسي مقابل‌مجلس

خبرگزاری هرانا – جمعی از معلمان حق التدریسی از صبح امروز مقابل مجلس تجمع کرده و از نمایندگان خواستار استمداد برای استخدام خود در آموزش و پرورش شدند.

به گزارش جام جم آنلاین، تجمع کنندگان که اکثراً معلمان زن آموزش و پرورش هستند با حضور در درب شمالی مجلس از نمایندگان خواستند تا نسبت به رفع مشکلات آنان اقدامات لازم را به عمل آورند. همچنین تعدادی از این معلمان در سمت درب شرقی مجلس در گوشه‌ای از خیابان نشسته و نسبت به عدم استخدام خود در وزارت آموزش و پرورش اعتراض دارند.

سید کاظم موسوی نماینده اردبیل و عضو کمیسیون آموزش و تحقیقات مجلس در جمع معلمان تجمع کننده حضور یافته و با آنان به گفتگو پرداخته است.
