Imprisoned labor activists call on workers across the country to join in solidarity in protest against poverty wages: Minimum wage must be no less than 2 million Touman per month

We imprisoned workers, Shahrokh Zamani and Mohammad Jarahi from Gohardasht Prison, and Behnam Ebrahimzadeh from Ward 350 of Evin Prison, support the Mahshahr Petrochemical Workers’ struggle for a minimum wage of 2 million Touman per month, and the call of the Iranian Free Workers’ Union for a national protest to increase the minimum wage.

We ourselves, as workers who at the moment are in prison, announce that wages that fall below the poverty line cannot be accepted. We can no longer continue this life of humiliation, poverty, and misery. Wages below the poverty line mean that the children of workers are not able to go to school. Wages below the poverty line mean that workers’ families are broken apart. Below-poverty wages mean lack of health care. Below-poverty wages mean homelessness. And yet even these wages are not paid in due time: as a result of unpaid wages, many of us workers have had our lives destroyed.

We demand an immediate increase in the minimum wage to the level of 2 million Touman per month. We consider delay in payment of our wages by our employers a crime against working families and demand immediate payment of delayed wages and benefits.

دستمزدها باید حداقل دو میلیون تومان در ماه باشد!

ما کارگران در بند شاهرخ زمانی و محمد جراحی از زندان گوهردشت و بهنام ابراهیم زاده، از بند ٣٥٠ اوین از مبارزات کارگران پتروشیمی ماهشهر بر سر خواست حداقل دستمزد دو میلیون تومان و فراخون اتحادیه آزاد کارگران ایران به اعتراضی سراسری برای افزایش فوری دستمزد حمایت میکنیم.

ما خود به عنوان کارگرانی که اکنون در بندیم اعلام میکنیم که دستمزدهای زیر خط فقر را نمی پذیریم و بیش از این نمیتوانیم به این زندگی پر از تحقیر و فقر و محرومیت ادامه دهیم. دستمزد زیر خط فقر یعنی از تحصیل واماندن فرزندان ما کارگران، دستمزد زیر خط فقر یعنی متلاشی شدن خانواده های ما کارگران، دستمزد زیر خط فقر یعنی بی درمانی و بی مسکنی. اگر چه حتی همین دستمزدها را هم بموقع پرداخت نمیکنند و بسیاری از ما کارگران بخاطر دستمزدهای پرداخت نشده مان زندگی مان به تباهی کشیده شده است. ما خواهان افزایش فوری سطح دستمزدهایمان و حداقل دو میلیون تومان دستمزد ماهانه هستیم. ما تعویق در پرداخت دستمزدها توسط کارفرمایان را یک جنایت در حق خانواده های کارگران میدانیم و خواهان پرداخت فوری دستمزدهای معوقه و خسارت ناشی از آن هستیم.
