ICRIR: Letter in Support of Mehdi Maleki, Iranian Refugee at Risk of Deportation by Sweden, from Keivan Soufastaie

Mehdi Maleki is an Iranian refugee, an anti-Islamic Republic activist, and an ex-Muslim. All three of these characteristics put him at risk of detention, torture, and execution should he be returned to Iran. And yet the Swedish government is trying to do just that: return Mehdi to the hands of the Islamic Republic, in clear contravention of international law. Read more about Mehdi’s story.

Just a few short months ago, Keivan Soufastaie was in the same situation: he is an Iranian refugee, an anti-Islamic Republic activist, and an ex-Muslim, and he was just hours away from being deported to Iran by Sweden. His deportation was halted, and Keivan now officially has asylum in Sweden. He has written a letter in support of Mehdi Maleki, which is reproduced below, in Farsi:

We thank Keivan for supporting Mehdi, and we continue to demand that the Swedish government halt the illegal deportation proceedings against Mehdi Maleki and all other refugees that Sweden is illegally refouling.
