International Committees against Execution and Stoning Support December 11 Protest at UN to Demand Criminalization of Stoning and Expulsion of Anti-Woman Regimes from the UN’s Women’s Organizations

Support Mission Free Iran’s Protest Action at the United Nations

On December 11, Mission Free Iran has organized a protest action in front of the United Nations headquarters in New York City as well as in other cities and countries. The objective of these actions is to protest the presence of the Islamic Republic and other anti-woman regimes in the women’s organizations of the United Nations. The Islamic Republic was not elected as a member of the Board of UN Women, but remains a member of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, which is supposed to set policy on gender equality. The Islamic Republic is one of the most anti-woman regimes in the world. Not only should it not be allowed membership in these organizations, but if the United Nations had the slightest fairness and consideration for women’s rights, it would have used these organizations to condemn and prosecute the Islamic Republic for its misogyny.

Mission Free Iran has written in its statement that “we demand the expulsion of anti-woman regimes from the UN’s women’s organizations, and in particular we demand expulsion of the Islamic Republic from the UN Commission on the Status of Women. We also demand a resolution by the United Nations to criminalize the sentence of stoning worldwide and call it a crime against humanity, and deal with those who apply these sentences as criminals in international courts and tribunals.” In this statement, Mission Free Iran has said that “we do not allow the United Nations to give political and judicial legitimacy to the Islamic Republic, which stones women, and the government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which has made rape against thousands of women a part of its domestic policy.”

The action of Mission Free Iran will be held in front of UN headquarters in New York City on December 11 at noon, and it includes symbolic acts in protest against stoning and violence against women. Speeches, an open microphone, a march and sit-in in front of the UN headquarters, and the collection of protest signatures are other elements of this action.

The International Committees against Stoning and Execution, in support of this action, call upon all those in opposition to the anti-woman regime of Iran, and all advocates of women’s rights, to support Mission Free Iran’s call regarding the expulsion of the Islamic Republic and other anti-women regimes from the UN Commission on the Status of Women and UN Women, and demand expulsion of the Islamic Republic from all international institutions.

از آکسیون اعتراضی میشن فری ایران در مقابل سازمان ملل دی حمایت کنیم

روز ۱۱ دسامبر میشن فری ایران یک آکسیون اعتراضی در مقابل دفتر سازمان ملل در نیویورک و همزمان در شهرها و کشورهای دیگر از جمله در لس آنجلس، لندن و برلین سازمان داده است. هدف از این آکسیون ها، اعتراض به حضور جمهوری اسلامی و سایر رژیم های زن ستیز در نهاد زنان سازمان ملل است. جمهوری اسلامی از عضویت در هیئت اجرایی این نهاد شکست خورد اما کماکان عضو این نهاد سازمان ملل است که به اصطلاح قرار است برابری حقوق زنان را تامین کند. جمهوری اسلامی یکی از زن ستیزترین رژیمهای سیاسی دنیاست که نه تنها در چنین ارگانهایی نباید عضویت داشته باشد بلکه اگر ذره ای انصاف و رعایت حقوق زنان مسئله سازمان ملل میبود باید این نهادها را به ارگان های محاکمه رژیم هایی چون جمهوری اسلامی تبدیل میکرد.

میشن فری ایران در بیانیه خود نوشته است :”ما خواهان اخراج رژیمهای ضد زن ازنهادهای سازمان ملل و بطور مشخص خواهان اخراج جمهوری اسلامی از کمیسیون وضعیت زنان سازمان ملل میباشیم. ما همچنین خواهان تصویب قطعنامه ای توسط سازمان ملل هستیم که در آن هرگونه اجرای مجازات سنگسار در دنیا را مصداق جنایت علیه بشریت خوانده و با مجریان چنین مجازات شنیعی مانند مجرمین جنایی در مجامع عمومی بین المللی برخورد شود.” در این بیانیه همچنین گفته شده است: “ما اجازه نخواهیم داد که سازمان ملل، به جمهوری اسلامی که زنان را سنگسار میکند و به دولت کنگو که تجاوز جنسی به هزاران زن، جزئی از سیاست داخلی اش میباشد، مشروعیت حقوقی و سیاسی بدهد.”

آکسیون سازمان میشن فری ایران در مقابل دفتر سازمان ملل در نیویورک ساعت ۱۱ صبح روز ۱۱ دسامبر و با حرکتهای نمایشی و سمبلیکی در اعتراض به سنگسار و زن ستیزی برگزار خواهد شد. سخنرانی، تریبون آزاد، راهپیمایی و ۱۰ دقیقه تحصن در مقابل ساختمان دفتر مرکزی سازمان ملل، جمع آوری طومار اعتراضی بخش دیگری از برنامه های این آکسیون است.

کمیته بین المللی علیه سنگسار و کمیته بین المللی علیه اعدام ضمن حمایت از این آکسیون، همه مخالفین حکومت زن ستیز جمهوری اسلامی و مدافعان حقوق زنان را فرا میخواند که از فراخوان میشن فری ایران و مطالبه اخراج جمهوری اسلامی و رژیم های ضد زن از کمیسیون وضعیت زنان سازمان ملل حمایت کنند و خواهان اخراج جمهوری اسلامی از همه نهادهای بین المللی شوند.
