Iranian refugees in Greece and Turkey are in the midst of an ongoing crisis – a crisis that governments and the UN have refused to respond to effectively.
They are faced with imprisonment, harassment from national authorities, threats from the Islamic Republic’s agents, and an utter lack of protection or effective advocacy from the UN’s Refugee Agency.
They suffer from poverty, and the wintertime is already here, posing additional severe threats to the health of refugees. It is time that the rest of the world stand up and demand that the rights of Iranian asylum-seekers – and all those seeking refuge worldwide – be upheld immediately:
ASYLUM!
PROTECTION!
NO FORCED RETURN!
No asylum-seeker should weaken their voice by hunger strike or suicidal behavior. We call all asylum-seekers to stand with us from a positon of strength, not self-imposed weakness, and demand your rights loudly.
The following events are being held by various organizers in support of Iranian asylum-seekers in Greece and Turkey. Each has been organized independently and so their literature and the targets of their demands may vary somewhat from those of Mission Free Iran.
