Event Report: July 11 2010: Beverly Hills, CA in Support of Sakineh Ashtiani’s Freedom & Against Stoning and Execution

The protest was organized by Ann Marie Lynch to work in conjunction with Mission Free Iran’s guidelines with the purpose of raising awareness in Beverly Hills, Ca.  We gathered on Santa Monica Blvd. and Beverly Drive where the Beverly Hills sign stands as a high traffic tourist attraction, providing tremendous street traffic and foot traffic. Fifty flyers were handed out to interested individuals and parties. Tourists from England, Japan and the Netherlands took pictures of the signs and others have posted them to their Facebook pages.

The car traffic in the area is estimated at 20,000 for that time period with multiple tourist buses and locals using Santa Monica Blvd. as a main thoroughfare through Los Angeles. The signs were highly visible from the road and could be read by people in the vehicles.

It was a privilege and an honor to work in support of the Mission Free Iran program to set Sakineh free and to stand up for the women in Iran.
