It is also the date on which Neda Agha Soltan was killed during the 2009 uprisings in Iran. On 20 June 2011, the date was designated as the International Day in Support of Political Prisoners in Iran, and more than 50 cities around the world came out to demand the release of political prisoners and prisoners of conscience in Iran.

On 20 June 2012, organizers again call for global demonstrations to support political prisoners in Iran. In addition to the essential demands of the day’s action, we will urge the European Parliament and the UN to officially recognize 20 June as the International Day in Support of Political Prisoners in Iran.

The demands of the 20 June action are as follows:

1. We demand the immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners and prisoners of conscience in Iran.

2. We demand a halt to all current execution sentences, and a halt to issuing further such sentences by the Islamic judiciary system in Iran.

3. We demand that the Islamic regime of Iran must be isolated politically and diplomatically on an international level, and their diplomats and delegates must be expelled from all international organizations, including the United Nations, and especially the UN Commission on the Status of Women and the International Labour Organization (ILO).

4. We demand the closure of the embassies and offices of the Islamic regime of Iran.

We call honorable people worldwide to join us on 20 June to raise a global demand for the immediate and unconditional release of political prisoners in Iran!

Open Letter to Tobias Billström, Swedish Minister for Migration and Asylum Policy, Regarding the Illegal Refoulement of Hossein Jafar Ali Jasbi (case #11.421.539)

To Tobias Billström, Minister for Migration and Asylum Policy, Sweden:

I am writing to you to demand an immediate halt to the deportation of Hossein Jafar Ali Jasbi, an Iranian asylum-seeker who has sought refuge in Sweden from persecution by the Islamic Republic of Iran (case no. 11.421.539). Hossein should be immediately released from detention and granted political asylum as is his right under international law.

1) Hossein Jafar Ali Jasbi has been visibly active organizing against the regime both inside Iran with his political party, Fedaeyin Minority, and as an activist during the 2009 post-election protests, as well as in Sweden as an individual activist speaking in broadcast forums against the regime. Anti-regime activists are usually charged by the Islamic Republic with “propagating against the regime” and “moharebeh,” which carries the death sentence in Iran. The case of Mohammad Amin Valian – sentenced to death for participating in the 2009 post-election protests (not to mention the thousands killed and raped in regime prisons during that period) underscores the threat to Hossein’s life (see: http://www.iranhumanrights.org/2010/02/valian-student-sentenced-to-death). It is obviously illegal under international law to return such an anti-regime political activist to Iran.

Notably, Hossein’s sister & brother were executed by the regime. Hossein’s non-politically-active father was detained for years on no charge by the same regime. It is obvious that his family has been targeted for state-sponsored violence, and it is based on a reasonable fear of persecution that Hossein fled for his life to Sweden, seeking asylum, which is his right. Yet the Swedish government has decided to detain him in preparation for an illegal refoulement on 6 March 2012. I do not accept this.

2) The Islamic Republic considers all Iranian political asylum-seekers to be criminals, deeming their quest for asylum as propagating against the regime. The Islamic Republic has on several occasions declared and applied its intent to prosecute returned political asylum-seekers, on the basis of Article 7 of the Islamic Republic’s Penal Code. Rahim Rostami, a teenaged Kurdish asylum-seeker returned to Iran by Norway and immediately imprisoned is only one such example. Hossein Jafar Ali Jasbi has sought political asylum and therefore, under the Islamic Republic, is subject to prosecution by the regime.

3) The Migration Office’s own Director for Legal Affairs “concludes that the Iranian regime has both a strong desire and the ability to monitor its citizens in Sweden.” Hossein Jasbi’s anti-regime views have been widely disseminated via numerous different radio stations and broadcasts, including broadcasts by known opposition radio stations. Under the Migration Office’s own admission, the Islamic Republic’s monitoring of activists has required a change in policy with regard to asylum-seekers who are active against the regime while in Sweden. Both the Swedish government’s own policies and Article 94 of international refugee law (“sur place”) require that Hossein Jasbi be granted asylum in Sweden.

4) It is illegal under international law for any country including Sweden to deport a person who has a legitimate fear of persecution in their home country. It is therefore undeniably illegal under the same international law for the Swedish government to participate in the crime of deporting Hossein Jafar Ali Jasbi to Iran, where he will be detained, tortured, and likely executed if he is returned to the blood-soaked hands of the Islamic Republic.

Nevertheless, the Swedish government has repeatedly violated the rights of asylum-seekers. On September 3, 2010, in the case of R. c. v. Sweden (application no. 41827/07), the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg found that deporting an Iranian dissident to Iran would be a violation by the Swedish authorities of Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, “No one shall be subjected to torture or to inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.”

Despite this finding, the Swedish government continues to illegally attempt to deport Iranian activists like Navid Mirpourzadih, Sanan Ashrafi, Marzieh Kamangar, Mehdi Maleki, Keivan Soufastaei, and others, all of whom are clearly and undeniably at risk not only of detention and torture by the Islamic Republic of Iran, but at unquestionable risk of execution.

We demand an urgent, immediate halt to Sweden’s intended illegal refoulement of Hossein Jafar Ali Jasbi, who is at clear risk of execution if returned to the Islamic Republic. We also demand the immediate release of Ali Azari Balsi (case #11 420529), an Iranian political activist detained in Sweden awaiting illegal deportation to Iran, and Mohammadreza Hamedian Esfahani (case #11 08445011), Christian convert facing 10 years in jail and 75 lashes should he be illegally returned to the hands of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Given the the Migration Office’s blatant, repeated violations of international law regarding refugee rights, risking the lives of Iranian and other asylum-seekers, we demand that Sweden must not only immediately halt the illegal deportation of Hossein Jafar Ali Jasbi, but must immediately cease all deportations to Iran.

Please urgently copy/paste this or your own version & add your own signature to the webforms for contacting

SUBECT: Stop the Illegal Refoulement of Jasbi, Balsi & Esfahani to Iran!

To Tobias Billström, Minister for Migration and Asylum Policy, Sweden:

I am writing to you to demand an immediate halt to the deportation of the following 3 Iranian asylum-seekers who have sought refuge in Sweden from persecution by the Islamic Republic of Iran:

1) Hossein Jasbi (case no. 11.421.539) – a Marxist anti-regime activist and member of a banned political organization in Iran (Fedaeyin Minority); an outspoken activist against the Islamic Republic regime while in Sweden, with numerous broadcast interviews; and a member of a family that is targeted for state-sponsored violence: his brother and sister were executed by the regime and his father imprisoned.

2) Ali Azari Balsi (case no. 11.420.529) – a political activist who has participated in and organized numerous anti-regime protest actions in Sweden and has a right to asylum based on sur place;

3) Mohammadreza Hamedian Esfahani (case no. 11-084450/11) – a Christian convert with documentation on Islamic Republic letterhead that he has been convicted of apostasy and sentenced to 10 years in prison and 75 lashed; this sentence will be implemented if Esfahani is returned to Iran.

Each of the three should be immediately released from detention and granted political asylum as is their right under international law. It is illegal under international law for any country including Sweden to deport a person who has a legitimate fear of persecution in their home country.

Despite this finding, the Swedish government continues to illegally attempt to deport Iranian activists like Jasbi, Balsi, Esfahani, and others, all of whom are clearly and undeniably at risk of arbitrary detention and torture by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Given the the Migration Office’s blatant, repeated violations of international law regarding refugee rights, risking the lives of Iranian and other asylum-seekers, we demand that Sweden must not only immediately halt the illegal deportation of Jasbi, Balsi and Esfahani, but must immediately cease all deportations to Iran.

We received the news of heinous atrocities committed by gangs of Shiite thugs and cut-throats. Armed gangs of militia have abducted and violently murdered between 50 to 90 youth wearing western-style clothes and haircuts over the course of the past month. These killings have been carried out by stoning the young victims to death: first smashing the victims’ arms and legs with rocks and cement blocks, then aiming for their heads, crushing their skulls.

These barbarians are members of known, organized Shiite militias that are responsible for implementing the unofficial and semi-official policies of various factions of the Iraqi “democracy.” This recent wave of killings started immediately after an announcement issued by the Interior Ministry of the Iraqi regime of thugs and terrorists, labelling the youth who dress in “emo” style as followers of “Satan.” The “community” police were ordered to “stamp them out.” These atrocities continue until this moment, in particular where the al-Mahdi Army of Moqtada al-Sadr is active.

Of course, people around the world, upon hearing of such incomprehensible, primitive savagery, may be shocked by the news. However, for those familiar with the “politics” of Islamic regimes like Iran and Saudi Arabia, or in countries like Iraq which are ruled by a spectrum of various political Islamists, the atrocities committed against our Iraqi brothers and sisters are but “a natural course of events.”

These are deemed “natural” because one should not expect democracy and social security and cultural progress from a regime based on and defined by violation of whatever is humane!

These atrocities are “natural” because this regime of criminals, representing the most reactionary elements of Islamic backwardness, has no means of maintaining its fragile base of social power other than enforcing their rule with bombs and militias, kidnappings and assassinations, cutting throats and raping.

This is what has been going on all along in Iraq as we the people – women, students, workers, minorities, homosexuals and youth – know it.

This regime, its police and its security forces, its gangs of militias and terrorist groups, organized and led by its different factions, have always done this.

They have harassed and beaten University students;
they have persecuted, kidnapped and murdered religious minorities;
they have kidnapped and brutally killed rights activists;
they have beaten and beheaded and even burned homosexuals alive.

They have committed these atrocities and many more since they were resurrected from the dustbin of history.

But the extraordinary savagery of the recent killings by these Islamic savages can be explained only by one factor: the inevitability of a popular revolution and the subsequent overthrow of the regime in the near future! This is what waits on the doorstep of these Islamic gangsters.

Everyone knows that Bashar al-Assad’s days are numbered. Everyone knows that Iraq is one of the most suitable candidates to host the next revolution. And these thugs are attempting to pre-empt that coming revolution.

These extraordinarily barbaric killings aim at the whole society. The objectives of these savage brutalities are to create paralyzing fear, social metamorphosis, and political passivity. Their objective is to cultivate submission.

Standing against this barbarism, against this Islamic gang of primitive savages, is the duty of any honourable human being anywhere in the world, but first and foremost it is the responsibility of honourable people of Iraq. The people of Iraq cannot afford to allow these barbarians to rule their quarters and streets and homes. These militias must be immediately disarmed. These criminal elements and gangsters – the “community police” thugs, the barbarian cleric Moqtada al-Sadr and his criminal colleagues, the Interior Minister and other officials involved in organizing and inciting these killings –should be arrested and prosecuted in open peoples’ courts for their despicable crimes against humanity.

There is only one real guaranteed resolution to the current situation, a situation in which the most reactionary forces of society are the ones ruling it: a revolution for freedom and dignity and progress.

Long live revolution!

In February of 2012, Iraq’s interior ministry drew attention to the “emo” subculture, labeling it “Satanism” and ordering a community police force to stamp it out. “Emo” is a form of punk music developed in the United States. Fans are known for their distinctive dress, often including tight jeans, T-shirts with logos and distinctive long or spiky haircuts.

As a result, a number of teen-agers, mostly males, have been targeted, attacked, and killed by the vicious act of stoning to death using cinderblocks, bricks, and stones: ‘First they throw concrete blocks at the boy’s arms, then at his legs, then the final blow is to his head, and if he is not dead then, they start all over again,’ one person who managed to escape told Al-Akhbar. The number of teens killed due to the order to “stamp out” the emo sub-culture ranges from 14 to over 90 as of early March 2012.

We must not remain silent while our young brothers and sisters in Iraq are murdered in the most brutal way, simply for wanting to be free to express themselves through their dress, music, thought or speech. There is an implication by the Iraqi regime that “emo” culture is a marker for homosexuality and this is particularly reprehensible; homosexuality is not a crime, and people should be free to love whomever they choose.

HOW TO HELP:
We ask everyone to urgently send emails to the government of Iraq, with copies to the UN and to international Foreign Ministries, demanding the resignation and prosecution of the Interior Minister for calling for these killings; a timeframe for implementing the prosecution of all involved in these killings from the Interior Minister down to the community police; and a formal statement from the Iraqi government acknowledging the universal human rights of Iraqi people.

To the Iraqi Government Cabinet:

I am outraged and appalled by the barbaric killings and stoning to death of teen-agers who are categorized as being part of the “emo” subculture, or who simply “look different” from other young people. This is a heinous, systematically implemented crime and I condemn it in the strongest terms.

I make the following demands in order to bring an end to these barbarities, which are an attack on all humanity, and bring the perpetrators to justice.

1- The Interior Minister must resign and face prosecution for directly provoking the militias to attack and kill (by stoning to death) teen-agers dressed in “emo”- or “western”-style clothing.

2- The Iraqi Government should announce a deadline by which all perpetrators from the militia terrorists to the police responsible for persecuting and killing these young people are indicted; and

3- The Government of Iraq must publicly acknowledge that universal human rights apply to Iraqi people, including the right to listen to whatever music they want, wear whatever color they want, and have consensual adult sexual relations with whomever they choose.

I urge your immediate response to these crimes against the Iraqi youth.

Sincerely,

This statement will be read at today’s International Women’s Day protest action in Washington DC at 1:00 in front of the Islamic regime’s offices, organized by Unity for Democracy and Justice in Iran.

We, like many others, always say that there can be no real revolution without women’s emancipation and equal rights. And on 8 March 2012, as we look back over a year of uprisings throughout the Middle East in which women stood prominently on the front lines, we can see this bitter truth playing out before our eyes, over and over again.

“There can be no real revolution without women’s equality,” and we are witness to the fact that it is an urgent demand that shapes the revolutionary movement itself, and not a “promise” to be deferred for “later,” promised for “after success.”

In a single year, from Tunisia to Egypt to Bahrain, Yemen, and Syria, we have watched women take the lead in organizing marches and occupying the streets, caring for the injured, building the barricades, coordinating intelligence, and taking up arms. Women have been an essential life-force for each of these revolutionary uprisings. Yet nowhere have their demands for freedom and equality been acknowledged by these revolutions. Each revolution, succumbing to the lure of populism, has failed to lift the question of women’s equality. And the consequences are dire, as one by one, each is being countered by reactionary forces. In Egypt , in Libya, the revolution has resulted not in progress for society, but regression.

Egypt, a country with a leading role for the entire Arab world, a country with a huge working class, spread over the entire Middle East, half of which are women bleeding under double exploitation, is a sad representative of these revolutions. We say that unfortunately, this great upheaval with such an enormous effect on the entire world, has so far not been honest with itself about its demands for bread, freedom and dignity. It has totally failed to lift the question of women’s equality, of women’s demands for their full share of bread, freedom and dignity — and it has paid the price.

This is a revolution in which its frontrunners and their vital and historical demands, whether by physical or political force, have been driven from the center of Tahrir Square: from the 8 March 2011 attacks on the women’s march to Tahrir, crystallized by rapacious “virginity tests” inflicted on the demonstrators, to the driving of a giant like Nawal el Saadawi to a corner under the force of populist political pressure, rather than raising her up on a wave of passion for real liberation.

The result of choosing not to stand for women’s equality is not only a moral black hole where the blood-red heart of the revolution should be pounding, but the theft of the revolution itself by anti-woman, anti-revolutionary and reactionary forces.

This tragic irony certainly has more than one single explanation, yet the neglect of women’s emancipation has been the most outstanding single reason that these revolutions have pulled Islamists out of the ballot box. And as 33 years of the Islamic Republic in Iran has shown, Islamism and women’s equality cannot co-exist; in fact, the rights and autonomy of women are Islamism’s first target.

We have said it on many occasions before and now we must insist again that the Egyptian revolution has to shake off the dirt of a social revolution polluted by populism. This revolution — all of these revolutions — have to cleanse themselves by lifting the immediate implications of the demand for women’s equality.

Between last 8 March and this one, we have witnessed uprisings that have so far failed to address the most central questions of themselves, the freedom of the society through the freedom of women. With great regret, we warn these revolution of the grievous consequences for the whole society, and especially women. These consequences can be predicted based on the bloody gender apartheid that has been imposed on women in Iran for the past three decades.

And so on this 8 March, we call on our sisters in the entire world, especially those in the ongoing revolutions in the Middle East, to take what by the force of history is theirs: the leadership of the 2000s revolutions. These are Nawal’s, Aliaa’s, Mona’s, Nasrin’s and Neda’s revolutions — and not the muftis’ and mollahs’ and Salafis’ and Muslim Brotherhood’s. These revolutions ought to emancipate the women now and not tomorrow. These revolutions ought to emancipate women not only in Cairo, but in New York City and in Manama and Jedda of Arabia.

The women of the Arab Spring, like the women of Iran in 1979, did not have a revolution to go back! On 8 March of 2012, we declare our solidarity with freedom-seeking women throughout the Middle East and worldwide. Real freedom and a real humane society are dependent on real equality for women – not after the revolution, but now.

Down with dictatorship!
Down with gender apartheid!
Long live freedom and real equality!

Ali Azari Balsi is a political activist, a blogger, and a political asylum-seeker born in Rasht, Iran, in 1984.

The vicious brutality of the Islamic Republic shattered Ali’s young life when the regime executed his father, Shokhrollah Azari, a worker activist. Ali recalls, “They never delivered his body to us, and we don’t know where he is buried. He was one of the communist activists in Lamp Pars Shahaab Factory.”

Ali himself participated in the 2009 Iranian uprising against the Islamic Republic. He was involved in clashes with security forces, and arrested and detained on one of the largest days of protest during the uprising, 29th of Khordad (19 June 2009). Ali was subjected to torture and beatings for a short time, but was ultimately released on very heavy bail: his family was forced to sign over their home to the regime in exchange for Ali’s release.

Immediately after his release, Ali fled the Iran and chose to go to Sweden to seek asylum. He has lived in Sweden now for 3 years, continuing his anti-regime activities: he has participated in and arranged anti-Islamic Republic protest demonstrations on behalf of a known anti-regime organization, Mission Free Iran; and he has been active in blogging. As a result of his activities, Ali reports that his blogs have been filtered, he has received death threats, and his family’s home in Iran, which they were forced to put up for his bail, has been confiscated by the regime.

Shokhrollah Azari, father of Ali Azari Balsi. Shokhrollah was a communist worker activist at the Lamp Pars Shahaab factory. As a result of his activism, he was executed by the Islamic Republic of Iran when Ali was just 14 years old.

Despite all of this, the Swedish government still intends to deport Ali back to Iran on 9 March 2012, where he is certain to face arrest, detention, torture, and possibly execution, like his father.

Even leaving aside the persecution he faced in Iran, Ali’s anti-regime activities in Sweden are more than enough grounds for him to claim his right to political asylum. It is illegal under international law for any government to deport an asylum-seeker to a country where there is legitimate fear of persecution. The Swedish Migration Office has already issued a statement admitting that the Islamic Republic has the interest and ability to monitor Iranian political activists in Sweden, and we have shown in the case of Peyman Najafi that the regime in Iran keeps a very close eye on the status of individual asylum cases that have been denied by the government of Sweden. The Islamic Republic has already made it clear that it will prosecute returned political asylum seekers under Article 7 of its penal code for propagating against the regime.

The Swedish government is well-aware of all of this, yet remains intent on illegally sending this young man back to more detention and torture in Iran, in contravention of Swedish, EU, and international law.

There is no question that Ali Azari Balsi, a politically active member of a family targeted for political execution by the Islamic Republic in Iran, will be detained, tortured, and possibly executed like his father. Yet the Swedish government has scheduled his deportation to Iran for 9 March 2012. We will not allow Ali to suffer the same fate as his brother & sister. It is up to us to do all in our power to stop this crime by the Swedish government.

TAKE ACTION: A sample letter is provided below. Please act quickly as there are only a few days left until Ali’s deportation date of 9 March 2012.

SUBECT: Stop the Illegal Refoulement of Ali Azari Balsi (case #11.420.529)

To Tobias Billström, Minister for Migration and Asylum Policy, Sweden:

I am writing to you to demand an immediate halt to the deportation of Ali Azari Balsi, an Iranian asylum-seeker who has sought refuge in Sweden from persecution by the Islamic Republic of Iran (case no. 11.420.529). Hossein should be immediately released from detention and granted political asylum as is his right under international law.

1) Ali Azari Balsi has been visibly active in publicly protesting against the regime both inside Iran during the 2009 uprising, as well as in Sweden as activist with an established anti-Islamic Republic organization, Mission Free Iran.

Notably, Ali’s father was executed by the regime for his political views and his activism for workers’ rights. Ali himself has been detained and tortured. It is thus based on a reasonable fear of persecution that Ali fled for his life to Sweden, seeking asylum, which is his right. Yet the Swedish government has decided to detain him in preparation for an illegal refoulement on 9 March 2012.

Ali Azari Balsi has sought political asylum and therefore, under the Islamic Republic, is subject to prosecution by the regime.

3) The Migration Office’s own Director for Legal Affairs “concludes that the Iranian regime has both a strong desire and the ability to monitor its citizens in Sweden.” Ali Azari Balsi’s anti-regime protest actions have been widely disseminated via Facebook, blogs, twitter, and other social media. Under the Migration Office’s own admission, the Islamic Republic’s monitoring of activists has required a change in policy with regard to asylum-seekers who are active against the regime while in Sweden. Both the Swedish government’s own policies and Article 94 of international refugee law (“sur place”) require that Ali Azari Balsi be granted asylum in Sweden.

4) It is illegal under international law for any country including Sweden to deport a person who has a legitimate fear of persecution in their home country. It is therefore undeniably illegal under the same international law for the Swedish government to participate in the crime of deporting Ali Azari Balsi to Iran, where he will be detained, tortured, and possibly executed if he is returned to the blood-soaked hands of the Islamic Republic.

Despite this finding, the Swedish government continues to illegally attempt to deport Iranian activists like Mohammadreza Hamedian Esfahani, Hossein Jafar Ali Jasbi, Marzieh Kamangar, Mehdi Maleki, Keivan Soufastaei, and others, all of whom are clearly and undeniably at risk not only of detention and torture by the Islamic Republic of Iran, but at unquestionable risk of execution.

We demand an urgent, immediate halt to Sweden’s intended illegal refoulement of Ali Azari Balsi, who is at clear risk of persecution if returned to the Islamic Republic. Given the the Migration Office’s blatant, incessantly repeated violations of international law regarding refugee rights, risking the lives of Iranian and other asylum-seekers, we demand that Sweden must not only immediately halt the illegal deportation of Ali Azari Balsi, but must immediately cease all deportations to Iran.

Hossein Jafar Ali Jasbi was born on 22 September 1972 to a family among the tens of thousands of families that have suffered in the hands of the “men of God” and their gallows in Evin and other slaughterhouses. By the time he was 10 years old, Hossein had lost his beloved older sister Mehri, age 27, and a brother Reza, age 25; they were among those tens of thousands executed in the 1980s.

Hossein’s father, who wasn’t even politically active, was put behind bars like the hundreds of mothers, fathers, and relatives who have been arrested, jailed tortured, forced to confess to activities that they had nothing to do with, and then even put on “trial” in Islamic “courts” and sentenced to years-long imprisonment or – as in so many cases – even executed. Hosein’s father not only lost 2 children to the gallows of the keeper of Evin, but spent many years in that hell too. He was released only in 1989.

It might be naïve, but we Iranians have never been entirely pessimistic about political support from the international community for our ideals of freedom, democracy, gender equality, and other progressive demands. Hossein worked towards these progressive ideals too, beginning his activities at a very early age. Influenced by the unbearable loss of two siblings, he became a link between the gallows and the outside world. In connection with Fadaeyin Minority, he contacted the families of political prisoners, collected information from the other side of “the gate,” and sent it to international and national humanitarian organizations.

It is notable that Fadaeyin Minority, unlike the ultra right-wing of the Fadaeyin, called for overthrow of the Islamic regime and participated in the armed struggle in Kurdistan against the forces of occupation. Many of members of this organization died in action or were executed as “non-negotiable examples of Mohareb against God.”

It is sad that sacrifices made by activists like Hossein, and the high price they paid for doing this life-saving work, did not lead to the reaction that we Iranians expected from the international community. Nevertheless, Hossein and many like him are the reason that today Geoffrey Robertson, QC, and UN war crimes judge, can give a detailed account and legal analysis of one of the most horrifying crimes against humanity since the second world war, the Prison Massacres of the 1980s in Iran (http://www.iranrights.org/english/attachments/doc_1115.pdf).

Hossein was an active participant in the 2009 post-election uprising in Iran. After the arrest of a number of his comrades, he knew that it was only a matter of time before regime authorities came for him. Hossein was compelled to escape Iran in search of security; he chose Sweden as his country of safe haven.

In addition to the contributions made by Hossein in the struggle against the Islamic Republic inside Iran, he has also been very active in speaking out against the regime, particularly on radio programs known to be run by opposition activists. He has given interviews with Hambastegi Radio, Chakavak Radio, Hamsafar Radio, Omid Iran Radio, Radio Ava, and Radio Shahrvand; .wav file recordings of nearly a dozen interviews are available on request.

There is no question that Hossein, a politically active member of a family targeted for political executions by the Islamic Republic in Iran, will be detained, tortured, and possibly executed like his siblings. Yet the Swedish government has scheduled his deportation to Iran for 6 March 2012. We will not allow Hossein to suffer the same fate as his brother & sister. It is up to us to do all in our power to stop this crime.

Given the the Migration Office’s blatant, repeated violations of international law regarding refugee rights, risking the lives of Iranian and other asylum-seekers, we demand that Sweden must not only immediately halt the illegal deportation of Hossein Jafar Ali Jasbi, but must immediately cease all deportations to Iran.

http://www.iranrights.org/english/attachments/doc_1115.pdf

Sincerely,
